Ingredients

Hamburger Steak Patties:
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 6 slices Dewig Meats Hickory Smoked Bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Country Bob's Seasoning Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds Dewig Meats Regular Ground Beef
  • 1 cup Coloma Frozen Foods Diced Onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
Onion Mushroom Brown Gravy:
  • 1 cup Coloma Frozen Foods Diced Onions
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Country Bob's Seasoning Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Kitchen Bouquet
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine all of the patty ingredients EXCEPT the flour and olive oil. Mix well.
  2. Shape the patty mixture into 6 patties.
  3. Take flour and dip each patty so both sides are well coated.
  4. In a large deep skillet on medium heat, add the olive oil. Place each of the patties in the pan.
  5. Cook until browned on both sides, remove and set aside. Keep the juices.
  6. In the pan with the drippings, saute the onions until they are caramelized.
  7. In another bowl whisk together beef broth, water, 1/4 cup of flour, seasoning salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and Kitchen Bouquet.
  8. Pour mixture into the pan with onions and let it thicken up into a gravy.
  9. Add the patties back into the skillet and let the gravy be on both sides of the patties.
  10. Add mushrooms to the skillet.
  11. Let cook for about 20 minutes.
  12. Serve immediately.
Tips:
  1. We prefer to use Dewig Meats Regular Ground Beef, however Dewig Meats Extra Lean Ground Beef will work for a leaner patty.
  2. You may also add a few more slices of Dewig Meats Hickory Smoked Bacon to this recipe for added flavor.
  3. We suggest seasoning with salt and pepper to taste prior to serving.
  4. Dewig Meats Pan Sausage can be used instead of Dewig Meats Ground Beef for a twist on the original recipe.
