Ingredients

    Hamburger Steak Patties:
    • 1 large egg
    • ¼ cup bread crumbs
    • 6 slices Dewig Meats Hickory Smoked Bacon, cooked and chopped
    • 1 tablespoon Country Bob's Seasoning Salt
    • 1½ pounds Dewig Meats Regular Ground Beef
    • 1 cup Coloma Frozen Foods Diced Onions
    • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    Browning Items:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 3 Tablespoons olive oil
    Onion Mushroom Brown Gravy:
    • 1½ cups Coloma Frozen Foods Diced Onions
    • 2½ cups beef broth
    • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon Country Bob's Seasoning Salt
    • 2 teaspoons black pepper
    • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 Tablespoon Kitchen Bouquet
    • 4 cups sliced mushrooms
    Instructions
    1. Chop bacon and fry in skillet. SAVE BACON GREASE.
    2. Remove bacon from skillet leaving grease in skillet.
    3. In a large bowl, combine cooked bacon and rest of the patty ingredients.
    4. Shape the patty mixture into 6 patties.
    5. Take flour from the "Browning Items" and dip each patty so both sides are well coated.
    6. In a large deep skillet on medium heat, add the olive oil from the "Browning Items". Place each of the patties in the pan.
    7. Cook patties until browned on both sides, remove patties and set aside. Keep the drippings.
    8. To make the gravy: In the pan with the drippings, saute the onions until they are caramelized.
    9. In another bowl whisk together beef broth, ¼ cup of flour, seasoning salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and Kitchen Bouquet.
    10. Pour mixture into the pan with onions and let it thicken up into a gravy.
    11. Add the patties back into the skillet and let the gravy be on both sides of the patties.
    12. Add mushrooms to the skillet.
    13. Let simmer for about 30 minutes.
    14. Serve immediately.
    Tips:
    1. We prefer to use Dewig Meats Regular Ground Beef, however Dewig Meats Extra Lean Ground Beef will work for a leaner patty.
    2. You may also add a few more slices of Dewig Meats Hickory Smoked Bacon to this recipe for added flavor.
    3. We suggest seasoning with salt and pepper to taste prior to serving.
    4. Dewig Meats Pan Sausage can be used instead of Dewig Meats Ground Beef for a twist on the original recipe.
